A monitor emits light, while fabric reflects light from its surroundings. This means the on-screen preview is not an exact colour reference for the print. Not every vivid colour shown on a monitor can be reproduced with a particular printing process.
What affects the appearance of colour?
- Screen: brightness and display settings change how the design looks.
- Fabric: the base colour, texture and sheen affect the appearance of the print.
- Lighting: the same print may look different in daylight and under a lamp at home.
How can you check colour before a larger order?
Order a sample using the final file on the fabric you intend to use. Assess it under conditions similar to those in which the finished product will be used. If colour is critical, discuss your expectations with Printella before printing and keep the approved sample.
Will a repeat print be identical?
Colour differences can occur between fabric batches and separate print runs. When reordering, provide your previous order number and explain that colour matching matters to you.
If the pieces will form a matching set, order the required quantity in a single run where possible. A phone photo cannot replace a physical sample when comparing shades.
